✨ Walking in the Light — Epiphany at UnionUnion Lutheran Church’s January 2026 newsletter invites the congregation to step confidently into the new year, moving from the joy of Christmas into the revelation and purpose of the Epiphany season. Epiphany reminds us that Christ is the Light revealed to the world, and throughout January, worship, learning, and service all center on recognizing and responding to God’s work among us.
As decorations are carefully put away and the sanctuary is readied for a new season, Union begins the year with renewed focus on Scripture, prayer, and shared ministry.
🌟 Worship & FormationJanuary worship follows the unfolding stories of Epiphany—Jesus in the temple, His baptism, His call to discipleship, and His teaching on compassion and mercy. Weekly Holy Communion anchors the congregation in Word and Sacrament.
Sunday School for children, youth, and adults explores key moments in Jesus’ early ministry.
A six-week Bible study on the book of Amos begins January 6, inviting participants to discover God’s justice, mercy, and promises of restoration.
Catechism classes focus on reading through the Bible in a year, encouraging deeper engagement with God’s Word.
🤝 Service & OutreachLiving out faith in tangible ways is a hallmark of January at Union.
The Spiritual Orphans Network is the month’s benevolence focus, with members collecting craft supplies for upcoming mission trips.
“The Great Rake” on January 10 offers a hands-on opportunity to serve neighbors in need, embodying Christ’s love through practical care.
Volunteers are also invited to help with post-Christmas undecorating, turning a simple task into a moment of fellowship.
🎶 Fellowship & Community LifeFrom the Good Timers gathering to youth events filled with games, music, and Bible conversation, January offers meaningful connections across generations. A Congregation & Community Meal continues the tradition of welcoming neighbors to the table. The month also includes a leadership and council retreat, strengthening unity and vision for the year ahead.
🙏 Leadership, Milestones & Shared Vision
January highlights moments of gratitude and transition, including the installation and reaffirmation of church council members and the commissioning of lay ministers. A special celebration honors Genevieve Baker’s 25 years of faithful ministry, and a Town Hall meeting provides space for open dialogue about stewardship and the future of Union’s ministry.
As Union Lutheran Church enters 2026, the January newsletter reflects a congregation rooted in Christ, attentive to God’s light, and committed to serving both near and far—faithfully living out its calling to love God and love neighbor in the year ahead.
